Today is my relaxing day. Of course housework still needs to be done but it can wait a couple of minutes. I think I may even start washing the baby clothes today that everyone keeps buying. Just to feel like something was done. Of course still not many things out there but lets see what I can find.

12pm-3pm Saturday Librarypalooza is a summer reading program kickoff party featuring a variety of activities for children, as well as performances by Johnette Downing.

10am-3pm Saturday Ochsner Bloodmobile: Donate Blood and Get a Saints T-shirt Give the gift of life, get a Saints T-shirt and a chance to win two tickets to the Saints 2010 season-opening game against the Minnesota Vikings. Jefferson Parish Library will sponsor a blood drive with Ochnser Blood Bank Saturday, June 5, from 10am-3pm, at the East Bank Regional Library, during the Librarypalooza Summer Reading Kickoff Party. The Ochsner Bloodmobile will be in the library parking lot. All donors will receive a Saints/Blood Bank T-shirt and be entered into a drawing for two tickets to the Saints vs. Minnesota Vikings game at the Superdome on September 9. The drawing will be held Wednesday, September 1. The winner will be notified by phone. Donors also get a mini physical, cholesterol test, blood type and blood assurance package. Ochsner encourages donors to eat a healthy meal prior to donating.

7pm NOMA's Beyond the Blues Grace Wilson of the New Orleans Museum of Art will discuss the current NOMA exhibit Beyond the Blues: Reflections of African America in the Fine Arts Collection of the Amistad Research Center. The exhibit shows some of the Amistad Research Center's extraordinary collection of fine art dating from the nineteenth century to the present day. The art highlights African American connections in American visual arts passed down through generations.

7pm adults Nursing in the Storm: Voices from Hurricane Katrina Authors Denise Danna and Sandra Cordray discuss their book Nursing in the Storm: Voices from Hurricane Katrina, which takes you inside six New Orleans hospitals-cut off from help for days by flooding-where nurses cared for patients around the clock. They will be joined by some of the nurses who worked in flooded hospitals. They will share what they did, how they coped, what they lost, and what they are doing now.
